Universality in literature means that a piece of literary work is able to reflect universal emotions and evoke responses from men every face. The essay believes Emily Brontë’s “Remembrance” such poem achieves universality. It attempts summarize three elements contained the poem: experience grief at death beloved, question “still remember or have forgotten” truth living struggles. These aspects together emotional progress person face long-term deep loss—grief, doubt, fears, guilt, struggle between restraint sadness indulgence wish death.
